How is it such an amazingly light fork doesn’t suffer from the same excessive flex and vagueness of other titanium forks, yet handle the rigours of hucking down your favourite trail? Not to mention meeting and beating the demanding Din 79100 test requirements. And hey- where’s the titanium anyway?
The answer lies under the hood. Due to the RC31’s unique design, Pace boffins were able to use aircraft epoxy adhesives to bond carbon fibre fork tubes to the hollow Monobox crown using high grade 3al/2.5V titanium tubes as the joint. And what does all this mean on the trail?
To coin a well worn cycling adage- less is more. A front-end so light, resilient and strong you’ll be sprinting from corner to corner- lofting the wheel at will, ready for the next climb. (Click on the product name above, or the photo for a fuller description.)DELIVERY ON ALL OUR STOCK IS FREE!!!
The RC31 has proven to be one of the most successful and reliable forks from the Pace fork range. It supersedes the venerable RC30 model which became a classic over its twelve-year production run, retaining the steering precision, direct feel and high-strength characteristics of its predecessor although providing a much higher level of shock-absorbency through its unique design. The RC31 is seen as the definitive ultralight fork and the firsts choice for single-speed and cross country riders the world-over.
With such a large outer diameter the RC31s’ lower carbon fibre tubes provide all the torsional stiffness required and exceeds the performance of any suspension fork in this respect. Enhanced comfort and shock-absorbency levels are provided by tuning the carbon-fibre lay-up so that the fibre orientation provides just the right amount of axial resilience and bonding these to high specification tubular steel spigots, permanently fixed into the new oval arm Monobox crown. The elastomer rings visible between the underside of the crown and the carbon lowers can then deform as the forks steel spigots flex under axial load. With its combination of torsional stiffness and axial resilience this design sets new standards of performance in a rigid fork. The Monobox hollow section crown is cold-forged and cnc machined and for ’06 features a new high performance oval arm design.
The RC31 is equipped with magnesium IS disc ready dropouts equipped with security tabs and can also be spec’d with a 1” steerer tube.

Packed with every feature to ensure perfect control of your long-travel All Mountain trail bike, the new ’06 RC40 fighter is one of the most versatile forks available. Because Pace understands that riders often want the freedom to choose fork set-up and not have it dictated by some boffin back at fork HQ. Take the Travel Express system, each click of the external dial adjusts the dependable coil-sprung travel by 3mm. Or the sweet new Launch Control (LC2) system- big new cnc dials which can easily be manually adjusted with a gloved hand- or left on automatic so the lockout which immediately switches back to suspension mode should you forget. Amazingly stiff and strong the RC40fighter only tips the scales at just over 1.8kg even with its special heavy duty crown, yet independent magazine tests have shown that the Pace carbon fibre Hollowform slider is about the stiffest of any brand*, and you’ll certainly appreciate this out on the trail where despite its longer legs, the RC40 fighter tracks like it’s on rails. And why compromise a lightweight trail bike with a fork that weighs as much as the frame when the RC40 fighter can handle bigger trail features and allow you to flick the front end around like an XC whippet.
Its been some time coming but at last RC40 and RC41 models (XCAM and fighters) can be ordered with optional 20mm axles. Not that our Hollowform slider is lacking in stiffness, however with the addition of a bolt through 20mm axle you now have unparalled control of the front wheel as it transmits enhanced levels of trail information back to the rider. And uniquely this is achieved through a twin axle design where a second, floating, sub-axle is fixed into the right hand leg. Rigidly clamping up the front wheel without pinching the lower fork legs together, and zero side loading of the fork bearings creates a super slick and rigid structure. Cold forged and cnc machined aluminium fork ends rapidly clamp up with a single 5mm hex-key. Safe, simple and super-functional.
For 2006 the Pace RC40XCAM takes cross-country/all-mountain riding to a higher level, maintaining all the proven elements RC40’s have become famous for such as incredible stiffness, strength and function. Whilst its dependable coil sprung Travel Express system allows you to externally adjust travel with a click of the cnc machined dial- anywhere from a full 130mm through to 100mm. Featuring a unique patented hollowform carbon fibre slider- unparalled in front wheel control. Magnesium dropouts and rugged aircraft grade alloy 32mm stanchions and crown. And of course the revolutionary Launch Control lockout system- revised for ’06 (LC2) with higher precision cnc machined controls, all externally adjustable and now equipped with full rotary seals, whilst slick new sintered bearings and hard anodised shafts help keep fork action super smooth. Cutting edge function, features, stiffness and strength. Result- you take control. The RC41 fighter is exclusively designed for the latest generation of lightweight long-travel trail bikes. Why put up with a long travel fork that weighs as much as the frame ? With the RC41 you can have the best of both worlds- the lightest 150mm travel fork on the market and the stiffest.
Combine this with the fighters arsenal of damping and spring features and you’ll understand why the fighter is winning fork tests the world over. And for 2006 we’ve bumped up the specification even further with the revised Launch Control 2 system- LC2.
Once locked out the forks LC2 system provides hands-free monitoring of terrain- flicking back to suspension mode when the going becomes really tough. External adjustment and sealing now features beautifully cnc’d adjusters for improved system function and durability.
However it’s the exclusive Pace Linear Air-Spring which impressed testers most…’Pace’s RC41fighter is one of the most impressive forks we’ve pounded lately. It takes the best of the rest and bests them on every count; the most linear fork of any air or coil unit; the lightest and stiffest 150mm travel fork going; and the Launch Control lockout/auto release system makes tuning a breeze. A truly stunning fork.’ What Mountain Bike’
If your bike were a family of parts, the RC41 would be the kid brother. Borrows all your best clothes, attracts too much attention from your girlfriend and never seems to put a foot wrong. Because the RC41 benefits from the hard work and development put in by its elder brother the RC40. Of course the family resemblance is obvious with its highly developed carbon Hollowform and clever functions- including Launch Control 2 (LC2) and Active Travel Reserve. LC2 features nipped and tucked adjusters which are cnc works of art- backed up with full wiper seal protection.
The true character of the RC41 becomes evident once out on the trail as this lively guy is a full 200g lighter than its sibling. In fact the RC41 is probably the worlds lightest 130mm travel fork. Yet in a recent 2005 fork test in What Mountain Bike Magazine the RC41 tested as the No#1 equal stiffest fork of any brand! And you might mistake its spring characteristics for the same efficient, linear response found in the coil sprung RC40 however the air-sprung RC41 is bred to have the smoothest and most linear action of any model.
And if that wasn’t enough there’s also a twin- the tough fighter with even more strength, travel and attitude! Its been some time coming but at last RC40 and RC41 models (XCAM and fighters) can be ordered with optional 20mm axles.
